巻末にはMumon's Postscript、Mumon's Zen Warnings、Muryo Soju's Poems on Oryo's Three Barriers、Mokyo's Epilogue、Amban's Forty-ninth Talkを収録し、用語集と索引を付す。

Zenkei Shibayama presents the forty-eight koans of the Mumonkan together with Master Mumon's comments and verses and his own Zen teachings on each case. Translated into English by Sumiko Kudo, with a preface by Kenneth W. Morgan, the volume includes Shibayama's calligraphy, supplementary texts, a glossary, and an index.
