ディクソンは序文で、ウナ・トラウブリッジの日記、ホールの著作、書簡、未刊資料、同時代の記録などを使用したことを説明している。自身の記憶に加え、当時を知る人々の証言も参照しながら、ホールとトラウブリッジを取り巻く人物関係と文学界の状況を記している。本文では1928年に刊行された『The Well of Loneliness』をめぐるイギリスでの発禁と裁判、出版人や文学者との関係にも触れる。現物の図版一覧には、幼少期のホール、1915年のトラウブリッジ、1920年のホール、ロメイン・ブルックスによるトラウブリッジ像、1931年の二人の写真なを収録する。巻末には索引を備える。

Lovat Dickson's biography examines the life of Radclyffe Hall and her relationship with Una Troubridge, drawing on diaries, letters, unpublished material, contemporary records and personal recollections. It also covers the publication and censorship history surrounding The Well of Loneliness and includes eight illustrations and an index. First edition, 1975.
