A biographical and critical study of George Meredith, covering his life, personal characteristics, friendships, novels, poetry, comic spirit, philosophy, contemporary criticism, and literary reputation. The title page states "A New and Revised Edition with Fifty-Five Illustrations," and the volume includes an index. Originally published in an earlier form in 1909 as "George Meredith in Anecdote and Criticism"; this copy is the second and revised edition of 1911.
