収録語彙の多くは当時の書籍、雑誌、新聞から採られ、一般的な文語として用いられるものを除き、科学・技術分野の専門語は原則として対象としていない。鳥類や植物名も数多く採録されている。アルバニア語の地域差にも配慮し、トスク方言、北部方言、ゲグ方言に属する語にはそれぞれ記号を付す。無印の語はより一般的に用いられる語として扱われる。巻頭には略号一覧を収録し、名詞、動詞、形容詞、複数形、前置詞、接続詞、方言区分などの表記方法を示す。
