イギリスの聖職者・文学研究者であるブロカード・シーウェルによる、1890年代の文学文化に関わったジョン・グレイとアンドレ・ラファロヴィッチの生涯と関係を扱った伝記的研究書。
ジョン・グレイは1890年代イギリスの詩人で、『Silverpoints』などを刊行した。ラファロヴィッチとの交流を経てカトリックへ改宗し、のちに司祭となってエディンバラで長く聖職に就いた。本書は二人の文学活動、宗教的転向、その後の生活を扱い、1890年代の文学文化を人物関係から記録している。全7章で構成され、巻末にはMarmaduke Langdale、ジョン・グレイによる「The Modern Actor」、Alexander Michaelsonによる「Oscar Wilde」、グレイによる「The Scots College Song」、George Meredithからラファロヴィッチへの書簡を含む5点の付録と索引を収録する。
