アメリカの中世日本文学研究者・翻訳者であるマリアン・ユーリーによる、『今昔物語集』から62篇を選び英訳した選集。1985年初ペーパーバック版。
『今昔物語集』は12世紀初頭に成立したとされる説話集で、インド、中国、日本を舞台とする1000篇を超える説話から構成される。本書ではインド、中国、日本の仏教説話と世俗説話を収録する。冒頭には謝辞、序文、本文についての注記、参考文献を置き、本文は原典の構成に沿って地域と主題ごとに編まれている。

Translated and introduced by Marian Ury, this volume presents sixty-two tales selected from Konjaku monogatari-shu, a medieval Japanese collection dating from the early twelfth century. The selections include tales of India and China, Buddhist tales of Japan, and secular tales of Japan, with acknowledgments, an introduction, a note on the texts, and a selected bibliography.
