1452年から1507年に生きたチベット仏教の著述家Tsang Nyön Herukaによる、11世紀の翻訳僧マルパの生涯を記した宗教伝記。Nalanda Translation Committeeがチベット語から英訳し、Chögyam Trungpaの指導のもとで刊行された。1982年刊行ペーパーバック版初版。Ngetön Lineageの伝記シリーズにおける最初の翻訳として刊行された。
本書はマルパの誕生と仏法との出会いから始まり、教えを求めて三度インドへ旅した過程を描く。インドの師たちから教えを受けてチベットへ持ち帰り、口伝を実践しながら弟子たちへ伝えていく生涯を全5章で収録する。本文の後には著者と翻訳者による奥書、発音案内、マルパが手がけた翻訳の一覧、用語集、索引を収める。図版は表紙のマルパ像のほか多数収録。

The Life of Marpa the Translator presents Tsang Nyon Heruka's Tibetan biography of Marpa in an English translation by the Nalanda Translation Committee under the direction of Chogyam Trungpa. It includes acknowledgments, a preface, maps, an introduction, five chapters, colophons, a pronunciation guide, a list of translations by Marpa Lotsawa, a glossary, an index, and illustrations. This copy is the First Edition published in 1982.
