採鉱、製錬、鋳造、鍛造、製鋼、加工を軸に、武器、工具、機械、職人組織、各地域の鉄産業を扱う。原著はBraunschweigのFriedrich Vieweg und Sohnから1884年から1903年にかけて全5部で刊行された。本品はThe Yushodo Booksellers Ltd.が1972年に刊行した全5冊の復刻版。図版多数収録。

Die Geschichte des Eisens in technischer und kulturgeschichtlicher Beziehung is a five-part history of iron from the earliest periods through the end of the nineteenth century, covering mining, smelting, casting, forging, steelmaking, tools, weapons, machinery and iron industries in different regions. The original bibliographic statements record 315 wood engravings in Section I, 232 illustrations in Sections II and III, and 344 illustrations in Sections IV and V. This copy is the complete five-volume facsimile reprint issued in Tokyo in 1972.
