1934年刊行初版。鈴木大拙が禅を単独の思想としてではなく、大乗仏教の経典と展開の中でどのように捉えたかを知るための重要な一冊。

Essays in Zen Buddhism: Third Series examines the relationship between Zen, the Gandavyuha, and Prajnaparamita, together with the adaptation of Indian Buddhism to Chinese thought. Its eight essays address the Bodhisattva ideal, bodhicitta, the Prajnaparamita tradition, Japanese culture, and representations of Zen in art, with one frontispiece and 32 collotype plates. First edition, 1934.
