A regional study of Russian Turkestan under Imperial Russian rule by the Russian geographer and climatologist A. Woeikof, covering physical geography, climate, water resources, population, agriculture, transport, commerce, and colonial policy. Published in 1914, the book was based on Woeikof's four-and-a-half-month journey through the region from May to mid-September 1912, together with published works and other sources. The volume includes an index, lists of illustrations in the text and photographic plates, and numerous illustrations.
