ウィリアム・ローズとG・クレイグ・ヒューストンが編集し、リルケと個人的に交流のあったシュテファン・ツヴァイクが序文を寄せている。ツヴァイクの序文に続き、ヒューストンがリルケの書簡をもとにその人物像を論じ、ローズは死の観念を扱う。C・M・バウラは『新詩集』、E・L・シュタールは『ドゥイノの悲歌』をそれぞれ論じている。巻末には主要著作年表、書簡集一覧、主要英訳書誌、引用出典を収録する。また、それまで未発表だったリルケの写真3点も収録している。

Rainer Maria Rilke: Aspects of his Mind and Poetry is a collection of studies edited by William Rose and G. Craig Houston, with an introduction by Stefan Zweig. It contains essays on Rilke's letters, his conception of death, the Neue Gedichte, and the Duineser Elegien, together with a chronological table of chief works, collections of letters, a bibliography of chief translations, sources of quotations, and three photographic portraits. First edition, 1938.
