第一部では1933年の遠征を扱い、ガンゴートリーへの巡礼路、中央サトパント峰、ガンジス・サトレジ分水界、ヒンドゥスタン・チベット道路、リウォ・パルギュルなどを記す。第二部と第三部では1936年のシッキムとラダックでの旅を扱い、登山、僧院、ラマとの交流について述べる。第四部ではチベット美術の現状、仏教思想との関係、美術をめぐる問題、国境地域の教育を論じる。カラー図版1点(p.156)、36葉に95点のフォトグラビア図版、地図3点を収録する。

The volume includes one colour plate, ninety-five photogravure illustrations on thirty-six plates, and three maps. First edition, 1939.
